How do I wash and care for my clothes?

To take the best possible care of your clothes, we recommend always following the care instructions for each individual item.

You can find the care instructions on the care label inside the garment and on the product page under “Materials & care”.

Tips for washing and caring for your clothes

  • Wash clothes with similar colours and materials.
  • Always follow the recommended washing temperature and wash programme.
  • Use a detergent suitable for the material, and avoid bleach unless the care instructions allow it.
  • Turn garments inside out where possible, and close zips and Velcro before washing.
  • Use a laundry bag for delicate materials, lace and fine details when machine washing is permitted.
  • Air-dry your clothes where possible, and only use a tumble dryer if the care instructions allow it.

Can I use the washing machine’s hand-wash programme?

If the care label says hand wash, the garment should be washed by hand.

The washing machine’s hand-wash programme is not the same as washing by hand and therefore cannot automatically be used as a substitute.

Should I wash new clothes before wearing them?

It is not a requirement, but we recommend washing new clothes before wearing them. This can help remove any residues from the production process.

Always remember to follow the care instructions for the item.

Can clothes shrink in the wash?

Yes. Some materials can shrink when washed, especially if they are exposed to temperatures that are too high or are treated incorrectly.

Viscose, for example, is a material that can contract when washed. If this happens, you can often help the garment return to its original shape by gently stretching it while it is still damp. Then leave it to dry flat if the care instructions allow it.

Always follow the care instructions to help preserve the garment’s size and shape.

How do I remove creases from clothes?

Always check the ironing symbol on the care label before ironing the garment.

If the material allows it, you can use an iron at the recommended temperature or a steamer if the item can tolerate steam.

Why do my clothes get bobbles?

Bobbles, also known as pilling, are small balls of fibres that form on the surface of the fabric.

They can occur when the material is exposed to friction, for example when the garment rubs against itself, a bag or a seat belt.

Some materials are more prone to pilling than others, including soft knitted fabrics and certain fibre blends.

How do I remove and prevent pilling?

You can carefully remove bobbles with a fabric shaver or wool comb if the tool is suitable for the material.

To help reduce pilling, we recommend that you:

  • Turn garments inside out before washing.
  • Wash with similar materials and avoid rough textiles such as towels.
  • Use a laundry bag when relevant and machine washing is permitted.
  • Follow the care instructions and choose a detergent suitable for the material.

Avoid pulling bobbles off with your fingers, as this can pull more fibres out of the fabric.
